Default 2200 stall and 3.07 gears good for hot cam?

I have a 2200 stall converter and 3.07 gears will this combo work well and be streetable with my LT1 with the LT4 hotcam ? I am using the 1.5 rockers for now and have had the ECM reprogramed for the cam. Any one running this combo?

No this would not be a good combo.

I ran the 3.07s and a 2400stall on the same cam and it was a DOG out of the hole. However, I have 1.6 RR so you will probably be a little better off but not much. You need at least 3.73s and 3000stall. That's what I have now and it is perfect.

Don't switch converters until you run the current combo.

The Hotcam really likes rpm closer to 3K to start making power... but you may be able to get by. The Hotcam does seem to be fairly tolerant down to about 2200rpm.

Try your combo before changing.

I agree, try your combo before changing. What's considered a DOG to me might not be for you so thanks Dan parker for adding that comment. Very thoughtful.

Zelement : Which one of your cars has the 3.73's and the 3000 stall? How much other stuff did you do to the car?

It's the steel blue.

It's a ZZ-4 shortblock, AFR 195 comp head, Hot cam, Miniram, and 100 shot NX gemini twin. Before the 3.73 and 3000stall the car only ran 11.5X @119mph. It would finish the 1/4 at around 4800rpm. With the 3.73 it is perfect. it traps at over 123mph every time and finishes at around 6000rpm.

Right now it's getting a vortech installed, with 8.5 TRW pistons.

See mods - The Hot Cam likes higher RPM so the sooner you get there the better. Gears need to be 373 and at least 2800 stall ..IMO.
