I remember some months back, we were discussing the use of the Accel HEI Super Coil with the MSD Digital 6. I'm going to be purchasing a Digital 6 with the following accessories from MSD.

MSD-8875 - HEI Wiring Harness
MSD-8412 - Low Resistance Bushing
MSD-6520 - Digital 6 Ignition Control

I know that Scorp had some issues with this setup and was considering switching to the MSD Blaster HEI Coil (PN: MSD-8225). Scorp, were you able to resolve the issue with burning up the coil using the Low Resistance bushing?

Just wondering if I should replace the cap/rotor/coil with MSD pieces or try to run the Accel parts (which at this point are still in good condition). The other alternative is to not move to the Dig6 and replace my failed Accel 300+.

Also, does anyone have a recommendation on where to acquire these parts. Looking for something cheaper than Summit or Jegs if possible. If not, I'll get them from Summit since its local.

I run the digital 6 with the DUI coil. I ran it most of last summer with no problems at all. Tach works good too. I used the HEI adapter harness also.

Switched to the MSD HEI in-cap coil & low resistance bushing and haven't had a problem since then with the Digi 6+.

Did you use that bushing as quoted in my first post?

After talking with MSD Tech line today, they said that the Accel Cap/Rotor/Coik would be fine if used with the bushing. I suppose with their approval, it SHOULD be OK.

Did you install the bushing while you still had the Accel coil, or did you switch to the MSD unit and bushing at the same time. Whose cap and rotor are you running?

I'm not sure what bushing you are referring to.

No I just slapped the MSD stuff in. I was sick of the car suddenly not starting and having to carry a 1/4" socket with me to swap coils.

I have some generic Conrad cap/rotor from autozone with brass terminals.
