Waterpump going bad?
I've been having to add coolant every other week here for the past month and as of recently I've been smelling coolant when the cars warmed up. Today I popped the hood and there's the orange Prestone coolant looking stuff on the underside of the hood.. And the cross member of the frame that is below the waterpump appears to be quite moist. I would say its a bad waterpump. How immediate of a threat do I have here? The opti hasn't been affected, as it still idles and drives normal.
What waterpump should i replace it with? I'm thinking about an electric pump, any ideas? Thanks you guys.

I replaced mine before I found out about the electric pumps. I highly recommend that you look into this modification. First of all, it cost about the same as a new water pump, but most importantly, it will last allot longer and you get a little power boost along with better cooling especially during idle or a/c ops. There is a ton of previous post on this subject.
Oh, if you take the pump off you might as well take the opti off and have a look. Mine had only 45k on it and it was horrible inside.
If you are not going to do this yourself, how close are you to Sanford, FL? Look up http://www.corvetteclinicinc.com They can do it all, especially venting your opti, which is another thing all of us 92-94 LT-1 guys should do.
Don't wait too long or your opti will leave you stranded.

Before you pull the pump off, I'd put a plastic bag between the bottom of the pump and the top of the Opti. Should help minimize the coolant that drains onto the Opti when the pump is pulled.

Went to my dad's friend/mechanic who is going to do the work Monday. I found an O.E. waterpump from the Chevy dealer for $184 with a friend of a friend's discount. :D He's going to pull the opti out, vent it. Pull the pump, replace it and clean up the front of the motor and flush my coolant system. And while he's at it I'm going to have him put my new cross-drilled/slotted rotors and new pads on!. Can't wait till Monday!!

Looks like you're on your way. Why sloted and drilled rotors? You should see some of the other posts on this matter.
