Default headers and bracket update.

probleme..

The headers i got are cheap headman. And the alternator bracket goes ( stock ) to the nr2 bolt on the drivers side header. I just noticed that I cant usa a longer bolt on that hole cause the pipe bends to near the flang
THe only option I have is to weld a bolt on the the header pipe, and use that as a connetion point to the alernator bracket.
The A/C bracket can i solve with longer bolt.

And the same goes for the oil dip stick. Cant use a longer head bolt there cause the pipe bends to near the header flang..
So either a hose clamp on the dip stick ( but ugly ), or weld some kind of bolts on the header pipe...

damn..

:mad

Hi again devilfish,

Do you know a good professional welder? Maybe someone with a machinist background? What I do when I'm fabricating is use a piece of card board and cut it to form a bracket that will solve your problem, buy some metal stock and cut to match the card board templet and have that welder put it on.

I assume that your headers are already on the car. Just curious, did you have them ceramic coated? Hedmans won't last very long without it. That's why I went with Hookers with the Jet Hot Sterling Coating, looks like chrome.

Don't give up, we'll get you through this. :smash: :smash:

I have coated Hedmans, and I used threaded rod, about 3 3/4". Next a piece of steel sleeve, about 1 3/4" long, washer, then tightened a nut on to the spacer(sleeve). Next the AC brace, washer, and nut. I had trouble finding something to work as a sleeve, but I found it at Home Depot. Same thing with the Alt, only I had to make a brace out of 3/4" tubing. Flattened both ends, then drilled holes. The dip-stick tube was harder, but I flattened both ends of a piece of fuel line, drilled them, and bent to shape. It's worked fine for over a year. Good luck. I used the first bolt on each side. :chevy

 Sorry friend, I didn't notice where you were from. Home Depot is a large hard-ware store. The threaded rod was about 95mm long, don't have a clue as to the thread. It's the same as the header bolts. The sleeves are steel, machined flat on both ends. I think they would be 10mm inside diameter, 14mm outside diameter, and 40mm long.( 3/8"-1/2"-1 1/2"). I have no idea what they are used for, I just happened to find them, and they work.
Good luck!!! :chevy
