86 radio reception
I have a Bose. My later model cars and trucks have much better FM reception. Do these older radios have bad reception? If I replace, will the reception improve or is it a Vett thing? :auto:

Re: 86 radio reception (VetteNoob)
My '88 coupe with the bose has poor reception also. Modern radios have MUCH better capabilities than the ones ~15 years ago

Actually I think the issue is the antenna. It is a really poor design. I replaced my electric antenna with a black whip that looks just like the C5 antennas. Reception on my stock 85 radio is just fine now. Got the antenna off another Chevy at the junk yard for $5.

my 87 has the Bose system. FM is OK but AM is really bad!!!! Actually the whole system leaves a lot to be desired. I don't think Mr. Bose can be very proud of the much touted Delco/Bose car audio system! And it was an expensive option!

Has anyone tried that antenea upgrade they always show in Ecklers? My reception always sucked but I assumed it was because my antenea hasn't gone up since I got married---oops--I mean since I've owned the car. :D
