I've heard of people using Ford fluid in older THM400's and 350's for a little more positive shifts. I've also heard that B&M's Trick Shift is essentially just Type F. Is there any problem with using it in a 700R4 with TCC?

I guess I should have installed a shift kit while I had the pan off a few months back--- All I'm really looking for is just a little firmer shift: Not a SLAM!, bark the tires kind of thing--- I just want to be able to feel it shift.

I put QS synthetic blend Dex-III in there previously, and it seems to have produced even softer shifts than before, so I'm about ready to drain that outta there.

You improve shifts by modifying the feed holes, accumulation, raising line pressure slightly. A Trans-Go Performance Shift kit will do this. This can be done with the removal of the valve body, and replacing the boost valves in the front pump. The type "F" fluid does not firm up the shifts, it lets the band and clutches slide longer during the shift, and then they come on all at once at the end of the shift, giving a "firmer" appearing shift, when it is a bang shift shift. Type "F" fluid is not the way to do this.
