Quick question about washing the engine.
I'm in the middle of replacing the optispark and water pump and with all the oil and crud on the front of the engine I'm itching to wash it with a little simple green and a hose.
I'm about to pull the intake and there's a fair amount of grease and crud where the intake mates to the heads.
The optispark is out and I'm not pressure washing it, just going to rinse the simple green off with a hose.
Any thoughts, warnings? TIA...

Just came back from Bloomington Gold where I attended Gordon's class. He recommends spraying with Westley's CLear Majic and let it soak for a good while. Then mist it off with your water hose. Do not use a heavy spray. He says this works better than Simple Green and you can buy it a Wal Mart. :seeya

How do you cover the opti? Any pictures so I can see exactly how?
I can't see ANY way possible the optispark could be covered. There is just NO way to cover it with out removing something significant. Bottom line... If there's a chance it'll get wet, don't do it!
I bought a bottle of Westley's and a bottle of simple green.. I'll let you know which worked better... Thanks for your help...
