Default 91-Z07 - Incorrect Oil Temp Gage Reading

My 91’s Oil Temp gage never comes much off of the lowest point. I know the sensor is sending the actual oil temp to the ECM – checked it with Diacom. Any experience or method of calibration? Or just a malfunctioning gage in the cluster? Had one fixed? By who?

it could still be the sensor.. it is actually 2 sensors in one.. I would swap to see as it is the cheaper of the 2

Had that problem with my 92 and my 93. Replacing the oil temp sensor solved the problem both times. Not hard to do but must have the car on a lift to reach it easily.

My 91 had them same problem, I swapped a new sensor in and it still didn't fix it. A few months back I got a ZR1 gauge cluster off EBay (I wanted the higher tach) and after I replaced my current cluster with the new one it works.

Must be how the gauge was constructed for mine.

Hey Guys,
I swapped out the oil temp sender this morning and just got back in from a pretty hard run. The oil temp gage never showed anything over about where we might guess 120 – 130 might be. The Z07 has a factory oil cooler, an engine coolant – to engine oil heat exchanger. Is the temp I see at the gage correct? I think it’s still reading low.

What kind of temps are you guys seeing? With or without an oil cooler?
