Electrical system fault......HELP, stranded in Oklahoma
After driving 1230 miles from North Carolina to Norman Oklahoma with no problems I hit a bump in Norman and my troubles began. The indications are as follows:
1)4+3, OD will not engage (was in OD when driving)light on dash turns (upshift indicator)off and on by pushing switch on shifter.
2)Anti-lock warning on dash, brakes work OK
3)Climate control unit OFF, no lights, notta thing, no fan (it's only 100+ degrees here)
4)Interior lights do not go out when car is started, turn off after about 30 sec.
Best I can tell it is a ground 'somewhere' but where ? All fuses are good, car runs fine.

With the ignition in run or start, verify there is 12 volts at the 10 amp gages fuse. That fuse is common to all of the items you listed. Did you use a meter when you check the fuses or did you just eye ball them?
Also could be a burnt wire on the back of the fuse panel supplying power to the gage fuse.

If your still stuck in Norman, contact Dave Pearn at Corvette Clinic, if you still haven't found the problem by Monday. 405 634 4767.. He's as good as any of the chevy dealers, and a LOT cheaper.

You read right, I'm in Norman Oklahoma, meter is in North Carolina, just waiting for a parts house to open to go buy another meter. I will probably be contacting Corvette Clinic in the AM.
New symptom, with car running if i turn on the lights I get the warning alarm. Going to check G201 ground.

Thanks, got a meter, checked the fuses and the 10A guage fuse was the problem. I owe you a beer or 12.

He found an intermittant ground on my ECM then checked timing and fuel pressure, because he had not used up his one hour minimum. Just charged me for an hour of labor.
Wish we had seen your post yesterday. We have a group of Corvette owners that get together in Norman every Sat Night. I had my scanner and could have brought a meter with me.

Well I'm here till the end of October, maybe I can get with you guys one week end, and I still have to figure out what's causing the fuse to blow.

We usually meet at Taco Cabana just off Main Street at I35 around 8:15. Just an informal group, no club, no dues, no organization. We occassionally go on runs for the day. Stop by and visit. I won't be there on this Sat. but will be the following.

Did a search for David Pearn and came up with this post. I just heard yesterday that David died of a stroke after he had his heart attack a few months back. I was really troubled by this news and still in a funk over him passing. Thought there would be something in the memorial posts but nothing. David Pearn would be my go-to guy when I was stumped and couldn't deal, he was a Corvette genius and had seen it all. He built more national record holders at Thunder Valley in his day and was truly gifted by the Chevy Gods. He 'tweaked' my L82 and renewed its life right before he fell ill and it runs like a scalded dog! Rest in Peace, David Pearn, I will miss chatting with you and your expertise you graciously shared with all.
