The X-brace fits just fine with the hookers. It will have to be removed to install everything but it will go back w/o any modification.

I just have 1 question, doe the 3 inch Y pipe fit on the stock cat? and if not, then I'm guessing you got a high flow cat? or not cat at all? and what about the cat back exaust system, is it a good idea to keep the 2.25 inch cat back exausth? or go with a 3 inch?

Very cool,
I'm glad to ear the X brace can be re-installed.
About the rear Y pipe, being 2.25 inch's.
I've heard that if the exhaust system becomes smaller going back, since the exhaust air cools down and becomes less dense its better for the exhaust system to actually become smaller to keep the air velocity up.
Do you guys think this is the case with a setup with a 3 inch front Y pipe and a 2.25 inch rear y pipe, or would it still be better with a 3 inch rear Y pipe?

Hooker 2149s fit fine, their Y-pipe was awful for me at least.
I had problems with the 16720 Hooker y-pipe too. Did you also experience the same trans pan clearance problem on one side as I did? If so how did you solve it? :D

Re: What is the best fit headers for a L98 1990 (vettefast)
I am having some 1990 L-98 headers built right now. The prameries are 13/4 stepped to 1/78 by 32 inchs long. Each tube WILL be 32 inches long. The collector is going to be adjustable so we can dyno tune. The collector then is going into an X pipe,3 inch.
I am hoping to test fit next weekend. Then off to the coaters. If anyone is interested email me next week and I should know about pricing. He is telling me about 6 bills.

I have only hear problems with the Hooker y-pipe on automactics. All of them beeing transmission pan clearance issues, that I have heard of. Hooker does not specify it. It will not clear without some cutting and welding on automatics, it seems.
Shotchkiss and I had the same problems.

TheStef...You're right, but it would become a restriction at some RPM point, depending on engine size and HP potential. A 2 1/2" has been like the standard for Hi-performance engines for years, so a 2 1/2" rear Y pipe would be best, unless you were making some big HP(400-450) then a 3" might be better.
I don't know how much Hooker gets for their front Y, but a good muffler/pipe shop should be able to make one for a reasonable cost. Mine used a Flowmaster junction at the front of the cat, and added pipes on up to the headers.
