Default Miniram and ZZ409 cam?

Hi people I need some advice now,

I've been thinking how to upgrade my engine during this winter. I have 88 automatic vette with 75k miles and 3.07 read end. Free mods done, pre cats removed, high flow maincat installed and Magnaflow catback installed.

I am VERY interested about TPIS Miniram setup. My engine is still basic 350 TPI. Now many of you however recommend to upgrade gears first. The more I read old posts, the more I'm convinced that that's what I'll need to do first (before doing the Miniram). So I have come up with a plan and I would like you to review it :

(From TPIS website)

- D36 Gear set with 3.73 ratio
- B&M Torque Converter 2400 rpm
- B&M 700R4 Shift Imrovement kit

With these modification my vette should be pretty good at launching?

Now here comes the tasty part. After above modifications I plan to install TPIS Miniram + TPIS Headers + ZZ409 Camshaft + 1.6 Roller Rockers + Accel or MSD enchanced ignition.
How would ZZ409 cam go with the rest of the parts? Keep in mind that my engine is still basic 350. What about AFR 190 heads with this setup?

Any guesses how would it be to drive becouse my vette is still a daily driver (not during winter thou). Any guess what power would it make?

Thanks for any info

You need really good flowing heads, you could have your 113 D-ports CNC'd or buy a set of Aluminum 195 AFR's etc

ZZ409 will work out quite nicely with the Miniram. I am running the ZZ9 with a miniram but if I had found a deal on a ZZ409, I would be using it. I actually had a ZZ409 waiting to go in but with my car running as well as it is, I sold the ZZ409 and will be eeping my current combo.

Anyway, you WILL need heads to utilize the rest of the parts.

I have CNC L98 heads in my vette and like them, A lot of people like AFR190s, I cannot comment on them since I have never used them.

Jeff, what areas did you have ported in those #113s; and what valves are you using?

Do you have any flow numbers?

I'm now reading up on such work and curious about realy world results.

65Z01,

My heads were machined by Pete at CNC Heads in Pinella Park FL. I bought them used from forum member 89Vette when he built his 396. Unfortunately due to time constraints I was going to get them Flowed when 89Vette had them at More Performance, but I could not wait for them and did not get them flowed. I have tried to ask Pete at CNC for flow numbers but never got any. I believe that he used Ferrera Valves, but not 100% sure. I also want to change the springs to the ones recommended by TPiS for the ZZ9, hopefully this next year.

What is someone planned on using all of these part with stock heads?
TheStef,

In 2000 I built my motor: Miniram, 52mm TB, ZZ9, Headers, Stock Heads. I ran the best of 13.8 at 101 (i think that was the MPH). in Spring of 2001 I swapped in the CNC Heads, this was the only mod and was using the SAME PROM from the old Set-up (before I tuned my own) I ran a 12.91@109 (Again I think that is the MPH) I will look for my time slips.

Amazing thing was the ONLY change was the heads. This year I ran a new best of 12.55@111.69.

I am happy with my current set-up. When I talked to Either Terry or Chris at TPiS and they said I would not gain too much from the ZZ409 except 1-2MPH and the RPM Power range would shift up about 200 RPM ( Makes sense due to the longer intake Duration). I still need to do some tuning on my current set-up

Ok, so I definetely need new heads to get the MiniRam to work. Earlier I was undecided between Superram and Miniram but the more I have read of them both, the more I'm convinced hat MiniRam is the way to go. And it'll be easier to install.
Maybe Forced Air Induction would nicely complement this setup?
