That is the most common way of doing it, but it ain't necessary.
-You can use a relay or a diode between the ECM's command to the EGR relay and the EGR temp sensor feedback lines to fool the ECM into htinking the EGR is alive and well.
-You can install an AFPR to bump fuel pressure and add more fuel at WOT to compensate for increased air flow from the intake mods.

What other mods do you have or will be doing with the intake change?

Pipe,

Yes you will most certainly need a chip to reflect the miniram changes you are going to make.

I would stay away from mail order chips to. There is no way to tune a car 100% though the mail.

Yep when I first got the car I fell for it too Big Horsepower gains by changing the chip I just had too have one spent $300 bucks plugged it in and expected it to snap my neck off. Boy was I dissapointed the only thing it did was turn my fans on early. Bought it from BPP live and learn I guess

Yep, until you have finished air flow mods it's much cheaper to use an AFPR to add fuel at WOT.

You can use an Aux Fan switch to bring the fan(s) on earlier too.

Hey Jim i'm the guy that talks to you at E Town I have the red 90 coupe. I'm gonna put that mini ram on in the off season then see how it runs with the 52mm throttle body mached set of stock injectors air pump elim. and good coil and wires. I had all that stuff this past season but not the mini ram. Still that 2:59 rear is killing me. Best ET was 14:11 pretty dissapointing????????? I'll have to bring you a carton of cigarettes to the track next season cheaper in PA. HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey Scorp no not going to change the heads and cam just want to try out the Mini Ram by itself first. I have another motor 383 in the works right now that I will put the Mini Ram on when it's done. I just want to see how much of a change it will be from the stock TPI [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]
