1994 Clutch Howls
I had the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel replaced at the dealer 4 years ago for $2400. That sounded like highway robbery then and does today, but the dual mass flywheel is expensive. Anyway today after less than 5000 miles on the new clutch, I've started getting a howling sound (sounds harmonic), which is especially bad in 5th gear. Anyone else experienced this ?

The clutch is out when the noise occurs and may be slipping in the lower gears. I think I'm trying to block this possibility out, because of the expense. I called my local dealer and of course the repair is out of warranty. The sound is like a low tone howl or moan and loud.

Does it shift OK? Does the clutch release fully (can you shift from first to reverse and back to first with a cold trans)?
I am thining pilot bushing or release bearing...
Oh, and $2400 is robbery, even with a new flywheel.
