convertables are someone limited for space... I think you can install 8" subs in the rear speaker enclosure space....

Thanks for the pics. I was thinking about simply replacing the stereo but after seeing all these pics, May have to bump up the budget.

I'm assuming that you know you have to replace all the speakers as they are 1 ohm ? Rears are easy, doors are very difficult, each speaker has it's own amp and the hole in door is smaller than the unit

That's what I did.


Using spacers, the factory grills fit over the subs.


I also stacked a CD/MP3 player and 6 disc in-dash changer in the 2DIN opening.

It all really depends on how much $$$ you wish to spend on the system. Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood (just to name a few) make nice quality head units as well as factory replacement coaxial speakers. I believe my factory speakers are 10 OHM, so it is necessary to replace the speakers to install a new head unit. I have found Pioneer head units to be quality, reliable units that last a long time, have nice features, and are simple to operate. If you are looking for some thump, I would recommend some sound dampening material such as Dynamat to keep from shaking the car apart. However, with limited space, I would look into something such as Infinity's Bass Link, a powered subwoofer with pretty impressive sound in a small package. I guess you get what you pay for, but you really can't go wrong with any of the brands listed above. Go to a good audio shop and listen to different brands of speakers until you find a set that sounds best to your ears.

You can see the 10 disc changer in the dash on the right side. There is an Alpine amp behind each seat, one for the subs and one for all the 6x9's.

I am guessing the bar with the seat belts, fire extenguisher are there really incase that stereo gets out of control. :lolg: How many speakers do you have in there? :cool:

Good one, Bam. The original four corner Bose speakers were replaced with I think some 4x6's but I bought the car this way so don't know for sure. Then there are those 4 Kenwood 6x9's in individual boxes lined up in front of the 2 12" Rockford subs. I pull the 6x9's and subs out when I go to the track. Very easy to take out and in.
