Thats because if you put long tubes in, you loose the cats and that wouldnt be legal.

You can use L98 long tube headers.

AGAIN, the messed up archives bite us in the rear. I believe Exotic Muscle as well as TPIS sell long tube headers that work with cats (although not the stock ones) on both LT1 manuals and autos. Members have installed and commented extensively on both with the EMs seeming to come out on top. There are a number of threads with pics of the install but until the message bodies are restored to the archived posts, forget about it... :mad

Fortunately for me, OK doesn't require inpections so I'm not to worried about losing the cats. What year were L98's in? I'm a new corvette owner and am not that familiar with the history. Do you know of anything else that would bolt on?

I've got Hooker Longtubes on mine, don't have a model number. If you check the website you can see a pic.

Exotic Muscle sells a set for the LT1 that is a complete bolt on deal. They even sell pipes to connect back to the orig. exhaust or you can buy pipes and converters to tie back to the orig. set up. I have a set ordered which I hope to get this week or next week.

The hooker part number is 2151. I've got a set coming from JET HOT that have been ceramic coated inside and out with bungs for the O2 sensors welded in. The price quote was $653 with shipping. They do not have the air tube hook up, but I'm gonna pull the air pump off the car and have a new chip burned so it won't throw any codes. FL doesn't have smog checks.

Do you need to jet coat them? Is it to reduce the heat for the surrounding parts?

If you don't have your headers coated, they will rust away in no time.I went with the jet hot for alot of reasons. It will keep the under hood temp way down (cooler intake charge=more power) and it puts enough heat down the pipes so your 02 sensor doesn't have to be changed for a heated one.Plus they look great and will last for years.I think their ad shows a header temp of 225 degrees on RUNNING V8.After you shut off the engine, you can grab the header after it sits for only 5 minutes. These coatings work. :chevy
