Default Removing A/C and smog pump, How can I route serpentine belt?

Going racing with my 84, A/C and smog are coming off. Someone's been down this road and done this I'm sure.
Can I route a serpentine belt to use the existing water pump?
Can I still use the the pwr. steering-alternator bracket and some type of idler where the A/C was?
Will the stock idler work OK?
Do I need to bite the bullet and get a new water pump, pwr. steering pump and use V belts?

Corvette Central offers some good info/parts. Or go to http://www.crossfire.webhop.net
for more info.
