I know that you were asking about the LT1 stuff, I responded to that post as well. Not sure if you got back to it. Anyway, I'm not going to answer your question because I really don't have a good answer. I searched high and low for a 4 bolt LT1 block and had difficulty finding one close enough to me to bother so I bought a 2 bolt block(cheap) and had splayed 4-bolt caps put on it. The L98 can have 4-bolt caps adapted to the 2-bolt blocks as well. I also don't know how available american blocks are were you live. It's just another option if you are looking for a stiff bottom end.

Thanks ANTI VENOM, and yes, I've checked your post on my previous thread.
This might be good solution.
Do you have any technical specs on what exactly has to
be done to adapt L-98 block to 4 bolt?

considering you live in europe... yuck. you may be better off finding an american sourced block, and getting it shipped.

take it to a machine shop and tell them you want it converted to 4 bolt... splayed is best.

Keep in mind that not all L98's have the roller cams...They didn't come until '87...

Some engine builders say:
A 2 bolt setup is stronger than a 4 bolt setup. The extra hole in the 4 bolt cap, weakens the cap.
I find that hard to believe as the extra holes are outside the 2 inner stock holes. The area of the stock 2 bolt cap is the same as the area of a 4 bolt,... plus more.
Pretty much a mute point unless you think you can produce more than 500 horses. For a mild street engine, the stock 2 bolt setup is fine. Your only talking about bearing life. Less you think you need that extra tiny bit of TQ.
