possible clogged pre-cat
My car ('89 coupe stock) runs just fine and all of the sudden it feels like its choked up. The drivers side exhaust manifold is normal operating temp (hot!!!), but the passenger side is just warm (touchable when car is on) could the pre-cats be clogged they are the original ones that were on the car and if so can i change them on my own or is there welding involved?
Thanks as usual guys.

If a cat is clogged, then that side is going to be 2x as hot as usual, not the other way around.
I'd do a tune up first.

Get out a tester and check for fuel and spark to each cylinder.
Check fuel pressure.
Any SES lights?

Yes, check the coil. The injectors can be bad too.

Check a few spark plugs on each bank to see if it's running the same.
If you don't have a strong visual inspection during emissions testing, replace the stock front Y with a precatless one and the main cat with a high flow 3-stage modern cat.
