My power antenna went out on my 85..the motor just keeps running and the thing is stuck up..I had this happen on an 84 I had awhile back and took it into be repaired and they charged me like 150.00 for a 20.00 part so this time I bought the kit from Ecklers. Has anybody done this and is it a big deal?..it doesn't look like it is.

easy! takes about 15 minutes. it helps if you have someone to cycle the radio.

remove the mast, reinstall a new one. real easy!

G.M. also sells the ribbon and finial end.
Once you have removed the antenna, drill out the rivets holding body together. Clean out any broken ribbon amd install new one. Use machine screws and nuts to fasten the body back together.
Removing the wheel and inner fender makes antenna removal alot easier.

Don't know about 85, but 87s a PIA, I replaced the mast-next time I go with the upgrade to allow for the ribbon and new antenae to be fed from the top.
