Hello everyone, I am looking for performance and customization tips for a 1984 C4 Targa. Is there any way to get this Crossfire to breathe better; turbo?, super charger?, bore the damn manifold out? Thanks for your help, SHY.

I have empirical data on the throttle switch. 14.5 without the switch, 14.7 with the switch. Cool down time made no difference. The car felt a bit faster, but it was infact slower. 1995 LT1, A4.

All the switch does is provide WOT TPS voltage at about 60% throttle. You will get WOT fuel, and downshifts if you have an auto at less than WOT. Atleast that was my experience.

It's smoke and mirrors... it just fools the computer into dumping more fuel, sooner. I suspect it really trashes the A/F ratio!!!

Default nice section

Lotsa time went into this-thanks. For the 84 owners out there:

base rear gear auto and manual: 3.07
optional gear : 3.31

0nly about 450 of the 55k or so built had the optional gearing though thats the way the test cars for R&T and C&D were equipped.

Default #s for 84

My Z51 auto has the 3.07 gear. I just got back from Houston raceway park tonite. My car ran consistant 15.2 at 89mph. Temp was in the 80'sF. It has 114k on it. It has the ram-air mod(makes underhood ducting functional), K&N filter and cat only, no mufflers. I run Mobil 1 5w-30 syn. So the car is close to stock as you could get. The R&T time was 15.5 seems that Car andDriver got a 15.3. The cars tested were 4+3 manuals with the 3.31 gearing. I still have the R&T issue!

It's not so much corrections, as it is additions and enhancements.

I added the section on engine swaps... I need to add the thread on the Big Block conversion.

I have added in recent weeks the E85 comments.

things like that.

if anyone sees an error, please, let me know!!!

may i suggest that you also maybe list the names of some good performance parts companies. also the air fiol is only a good upgrade if it is combined with another upgrade such as a k&n filter or such

the air foil is a joke. I have yet to see empirical data that proves it's worth any more than 5hp, under any condition.

Listing performance companies could lay us smack into the middle of the forum rules about posting non-forum vendor info... And I don't feel like creating the xref between brand and vendor.... that would be a bitch.
