Default Muffler Eliminator vs magnaflow muffler replacement

I have the magnaflow muffler replacement mufflers and i replaced the resonater with pipes on my 96 LT1 a4. Any oppinions on sound and performance of the muffler eliminators over the magnaflows?

I think I would do the elims... The Magnaflow sounds good but I would like it a lot louder.

Default Good post....

I also have a 1996 A4 with a stock system and was thinking about either going with elims or magnaflows. I'm afraid the elims will be a little to loud.

I have the magnaflows, but they seem like there lacking that aggressive sound, taking out the resonater did help it get louder though

Have you heard the car from the outside? My magnaflow muffs didn't sound much quieter than when I had open headers, except when you listening from inside the car. Long tube headers would really open the sound. But I've tried the muff eliminators and you're going to find the only difference will be some addded interior resonance/noise. I also had a lot more backfiring with the muffler eliminators than with the magnaflows. These are the straight through Magnflows right???

If you want some better sound than the magnaflows alone offer, gut your cats and/or get some headers.

havnt heard it from the outside yet, will definatly have someone do a drive-by for me in the spring. Yeah they are straight throught mufflers, i was thinking about just taking the cats out putting pipe in place of them

If we're talking just sound here, the LT headers & no cats combo with my Magnaflows creates one helluva bad-azzed gutty exhaust note.....idle is nicely pronounced but not actually loud --- however your world definitely goes upside down when you hit the gas

Got a set of LT from exotic muscle.. Real nice, no problems.. Running them with no cats and Borla exhaust and very quite... You can hear them but it is nothing to brag about.. Was thinking of going with the Magnaflows... or B&B's.. What do you think?

I did mine backward. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/newr...&p=1548979700#

I replaced the reasonator with a Magnaflow Tru-X Perf Core (pn 14468), then deleted the rear mufflers all together with straight pipes. I finished off the ends with a set of Borla dual tips.

This approach is cheaper and sounds better. Plus it provides more low end torque response due to the use of Tru-X which essentially serves as a cross pipe. This system should be good for up to 500 horses. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/misc...=0&forumid=48#
Thumbs Up
