I am doing my first oil change on my ZR-1 and have a question regarding filling the oil. I drained 7 quarts out(let it sit overnight). I have a feeling it was low because my low oil light came on one and the way home the last day I drove it.

Now my question is, how long should I wait after putting the oil before I check it on the stick? How long should I wait for the oil to drain through the engine into the pan?

I just want to make sure the oil is at the just right level.

A few hours will be fine but some people swear by overnight.
