I need a new set and am in the "cue" for the Goodyear F1. How does the Sumo's compare to the F1's?..... and..would it be better just to wait for Goodyear to start making the 315's again or buy the Sumo's instead??

I've heard they don't get good scores as a high mileage tire but so far I'm not unhappy with the tread wear.

They do not come close to the F1s and Here in NC on our roads in the wet weather the sumos suck.

I have them on my Ruby, I will say this get them hot and they will stick like glue. I even broke my outer driver's spindel with them. I also drove in a tornado driven rain going to Effingham a couple years ago. Thought they did just fine .My only complant is they look like doughnuts on the car wish they were more flat on the outer edge.

Tires, GSD3's available now
I just bought and installed a full set of Goodyear GSD3 in 275/40 and 315/35 from a dealer in Texas who still had 6 sets of 315's left. So you can find the GSD3's out there. Cost: 275's $215 and the 315's were $288. Shipping is free.
Tirerack still on back order for the 315's?
If interested email me and I will give you the dealers url.
I had Sumo's on and was so glad to get them off, they still have 1/2 the tread life, but just were not the tires for me.

For the price you won't find a better tire, I have 24,000 miles on mine and they still look new, Great in the rain and dry roads, No they don't suck... I would buy them again when the time comes.

side shot
Here is one
It dosen't give you the best shot but it's what I have of the tread that seems to roll up to the side wall ,unlike a Goodyear that almost looks square. Also I would say that they dont wear out to the edge eather I Would try to take more but wheels are off for the winter.
I still like them for the money ...

You seem to be the only one that has really negitive thoughts about the tires, Sure there are better tires, But for the money they are a good tire, Wear well, Not too noisey and not too bad in the rain, Not real good in the snow, But what tire is on a Vette.

Im not talking snow My big thing is Rain I do drive my car in the rain and on these tires where I live they are like driving on snow.
Maybe the boys in the pacific north west have roads made from somthing different and these tires work well for them and how much rain do you get in Reno?
In the desert im sure they are a great tire but the weather changes here and this tire doesnt like the changes that happen.
Maybe im just harder on tires than I think I dont know but people ask about these and I give my side. Just having some fun with the they suck song
yes Great tire for the money but I wont buy them again and another thing if you do a search on Sumitomo's you will see I am not the only hater some love them some don't I don't.

These tires are awesome in the rain, on all road surfaces. Way better than the Michelin Pilot Sports I have on there now. You won't be disappointed with the Sumitomos.

Sumitomo's are too cheap to invest that kind of technology into their tires. I've been in the tire business for a little over 2 years and personally would never buy a Sumitomo tire. Bad quality.
