Default Z06 / Zr1

I thought the ZR1 would be killed but if you compare these 2 videos it's not that bad:

z06 - 30=>120 mph - 11 seconds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6EiNFiLhV0

zr1 - 30=>120 mph - 12 seconds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2prRg1z-a64

Not bad!

Ok, you have speedo errors, gear changes which have some impact on the time, etc... but it's a good indication of the performances of the old zr1!

The C6 Z06 is much faster than a stock ZR-1. You can try and slice it anyway you want but line the two up and the ZR-1 will be looking at taillights very quickly (375 or 405 version, doesn't matter).

Another subject; how does the Z06 go to 190 so smoothly? It that video taken on a dyno or something? I've gone 180 many times and there is no way that video camera could be held without any vibration at all.

Those mile runs out in Las Vegas, didn't they seem to show that over a larger speed range that the C6 Z didn't really stomp all over the LT5? Or am I mistaken? I didn't go to any, just read, but seem to recall stock Z06's were around 160mph at the mile point, and 350 LT5's were hitting low 150's?

well our cars are mostly driven in the street but in the racing world 10mph difference is an eternity. you will be a first loser at the finish line. Our cars needs more hp to hang with the c6 z06.

At the Vegas mile event stock ZR-1's were around 150mph, stock C6Z low to mid 160's. To outrun a stock C6Z in the mile you need at least a fully ported 350cid with all the bells and whistles - Dempseys example pulled off a 168mph run. A rolling start race is advantagous to the ZR-1 as the C6Z does a much better job getting off the line.

I'm pretty sure it's on a camera mount. If you listen again, you can hear the wind buffeting at speed.
It's possible to fake this, (re-mix the sound), but I'm convinced this is real.
BTW, it's a much better way to do it, rather than have your scared sh*tless passenger try to keep a steady shot at 150+mph.
