Default The latest 441 ci LT5 fire up!

See if this monster doesn't get your heart pumpin! Pete turns the key on his winter project - building a 441 ci LT5 for fellow "FBI" member (Fast Boyz of Illinoiz ) Pretty docile idle for a NA motor that should be north of 650 hp! (Nuttin like DOHC, 4-valve motors!)

Turn you sound up and hear the "heartbeat"!

Outstanding! Another big bore old school engine joins the club. Looking forward to seeing it at bowling green.

Yes, it does have an auto installed. Not a dedicated track car, but serves some DD use in the urban Chicago area. Goto zr1.net and ask Pete or Kevin which one it is (he mentioned it, but I didn't pay attention, apparently).

Pete and Bob G were the builders and came up with the basic design - differing slightly from the pioneer (Marc H's) initial design. They worked with a "local" machine shop on the closed deck sleeve design and manufacturing and block milling. I believe the the cost for billet crank, sleeves, and cams, etc, including labor came in well under $20k for a 441 ci. Kevin had the billet crank already, so it came in about $5k less than starting with a stock short-block. (Hafta refer you to Pete n Bob over on zr1.net for details.)

Has the engine been dynoed? What are the power expectations with this build?

Sick!! One day I'll have an lt5! Sounds very similar to my 388 lt4 buildup with b&b although once she revs up they won't sound much alike !! Probably just cuz of the b&bs. If I'm not too lazy I'll put up a shirt vid.

I believe they're putting some miles on it this w/e to break it in a little before changing oil and tuning. No dyno #s yet.

As for target hp, they expect it will be "north" of 650, but due to some experimental valve and cam specs, actual hp is going to be empirical.

Maybe by BG we'll have some preliminary answers.
