Just for fun! Be Honest!
I was surprised many years ago when I posted a poll
about hitting the rev limiter. Many said never !
These cars are MADE to DRIVE!

The engines and suspension in a c5 are awesome....but sometimes I feel the clutch/transmission are relatively flimsy (maybe I'm just comparing too much to my 93 zr1) Anyone with c5s in their past, feel this way ?

Shhhhhhhhh....don't tell anyone, but I used to cruise the empty highways of Nevada at 130-140. Too noisy to do for long, and it makes 110 seem real docile. I passed a car at 164 one day and that scared me more than him. I slowed down a lot after that -- to 90 or so. Last trip was down to 80-85. Last outing was down to 70-75.
Gettin' old.

old pilots and bold pilots, but not that many old & bold ones
fastest I've gone was with the late larry merrow in the LSV coming up on a stoplight doing 160
he then showed me what bear alcons could do and stopped hard enough to put a nice thick brake dust coating on the freshly washed a molds (now nicely black)
I was very impressed at both the acceleration and stopping power, but decided there wasn't much need to keep testing it.
so about as fast as I've gone was 128 in the quarter mile
but yes, I've set the cruise control at 120 it does work up there much to my surprise
haven't ever gone faster in the turbo z06, spirited runs from 0 - 100 are about as much thrill as this old pilot needs

I have not visited the board for some time but thought I would participate in the poll. Top speed in my 415 car is 194 and the car was still pulling. Have exceeded 170 more times than I can remember. Best speed in standing mile is 181.5. Hope to break 184 this year in the SORC One Mile Shoot Out. At 63 I am becoming more cautious and have had a cage put in the car.
On a closed public highway I found that my 2006 ZO6 will hold 175 on cruise. Dumped the car into 6th gear thinking that with 427 inch displacement it could maintain speed. The car fell on it's face and I returned to fifth and dropped speed to 165. The ZO6 was driven by a good friend who squared off with another friend's Ford GT and the cars were dead even at 196. Living where I do I seldom take either car out of the barn without seeing three digit speeds.

140 plus on the front straightaway at Road America and then I lift - can't get the AJ Foyt accident at turn one out of my mind. Chicken but still alive.

158 with 4.09s. Was following a bike, he hit a crosswind and got a bit wobbly so we backed off. Was starting to tach out some but still had speed left to gain.
