They can take awhile to sell
Some underhood detailing woulg go a long way to help sell.

Maybe not. Sounds like they've been trying to sell it for a while. The market for these cars has been dropping steadily and the economy in general is not really going back up yet.
But for those who really like ZR-1's, yeah very nice for the money

I believe only reason it has not sold is because of the underhood detailing. Who ever buy it, spend a couple of grand on Power Coating & Chroming the wheels, it would nice looking ZR1.

If I didn't own one, I would consider it,the interior looks very nice. As mentioned clean up the engine compartment and invest a little money into it. If it's mechanically sound and the body's decent you could make some money on it. Maybe someone living nearby should check it out.

There could be a boatload of things that need to be addressed.
But if its a solid runner with no extra internal engine wear thats a price that can be reckoned with. Zr-1's Are a blast to wind up.

Numerous threads on it over several years. First one was about a forum member who put it together for him (someone?) after being found in a shop. Last year one contained information on it from a forum member who had inspected it.

It wont take too long to figure out if its a good car or not.
We will be in the area in a couple of weeks I am going to take a look see. Didn't he post the compression numbers or something.

My humble inspection of this 1991 ZR1
Alright... As some of you may know I rebuilt my Z and I was in search of another Z... Call it an addiction if you will..
I have been in contact with the owner for a while and I am TDY here in LA...so I thought I would check it out while I'm here..(side note: I bought. 40th anny white/ white/white convertible while I have been here)
ANYWAY...
As I said the guy is nice.. Car is NOT...here is the issues after spending a few min with the car.
ENGiNE:
The engine IS running...rough, but running.. Stock injectors, vacuume leaks from somewhere.
Many things throughout the engine bay are broken and or corroded or missing.the times that the engine HAS been touched it was done by unqualified, corner cutters...
EXTERiOR:
The paint is a nice color BUT it is a respray the rear quarter panel is bubbling and the headlight panel is a replacement.i could not get a clear idea of the condition because of the state of storage( I'll get to that)
BUT!!! it's all there and aside from a possible repair due to a wreck????(I don't know)
weatherstripping is DESTROYED... It all would need replaced.
INTERIOR:
OK... The interior is there... MOST of it is descent...BUT ... BOTH of The doors are ruined by someone apparently ripping them from the door in an effort to remove them( guess they were unaware of screws or screw drivers for that matter... The switches are broken and the doors them selves are coming apart...I think the seats were spray dyed but they look descent.
STORAGE and CARE: ....OR LACK THEREOF...
The car you see in the pics is absolutely NOT the car you see now, the car is under a tarp, unwashed, flat tires, uncared for And rotting away. The owner it seems has no other place to put it, but it's a shame.
WORTH: IMHO $6,000-$7,000
Current state is sad, what's even sadder is the owner can't understand the state of this car is in such a way that it will NOT bring anyway near what he wants...He told me he got an offer above 10,000 and I immediately told him to jump on the offer for both his sake as well as the car's.
I want to mention that I brought all my tools and equipment, to do a compression test as well as some other ops checks... After looking at the car I felt there was no need since I could not drive it, as well as the over all condition of the car.
Disclaimer: these opinions are mine and mine alone. Those who know me or my Z will decide if I know what I'm talking about or I am a jabbering idiot

All the comments above saying it's a good deal for the money, well I guess those are based on the earlier condition of the car.
Sounds like it's slowly getting worse and eventually that guy is gonna have to take a really lowball offer
