1990-1993 vs. 1994-1995 ZR1's
I am looking to into buying a ZR-1, and I was wondering why the 1994-1995 ZR-1's are priced so much higher than 1990-1993 ZR-1's...I know that 1990-'93s have 375 ponies, and 1994-'95s has 405, but it is THAT notciable? I mean 375 is a great number, and 405 is bigger, but are there any other bigger differences...? Thanks for all your help...

'93's also have 405 HP. General desirability goes in decending order:
'93 Anniversary
'95
'90
'94
'93
'92
'91
Colors, mileage and general condition also play a big part of the equation, this order is assuming a collector car with less than 1000 miles on it. If it's not going to be collected (i.e. has more than 1000 miles) then the order is basically newer is better just as any other used car.

'93s also have 405 HP? Or is that only the Anniversary edition? Sorry to be such a nutcase, but like they say, the specs of this car just are mysterious to me... Thanks for the info dude.

405 HP on all 1993 ZR-1s.
Two improvements for 1994-5 are:
1. Much improved seats.
2. The five spoke wheels (which the ZR-1 should have had from day 1).
Any well cared for ZR-1 is desirable :) .

Another thing to consider with the 93-95 cars;only 448 were produced each year. Only 502 were produced in 92.
The majority of the ZR-1's manufactured were in 90-91.

Re: 1990-1993 vs. 1994-1995 ZR1's (lampedusa)
Just to toss in my thoughts.
I don't think the 90's will every really be that collectable. They made to damn many of them. The only saving grace for the 90 is the old front bumper with the 4 square tail lamps.
Out of any of the ZR-1's that will be worth some money
93 40th cars
95 Yellow, Admiral Blue, and the purple metallic
94 Yellow, Admiral Blue
93 Cars
And so on down the line.
With my 90, I'm going to use this as my mod car, next on the list, coilovers, some black 5 spokes, maybe a body update kit or the Aerobody, some more interior accents, and finally the 415 :D
I'll pick up a yellow or admiral blue 94-95 when the time is right. And keep that one as my show car.

I’m not much interested on the 40th Anniversary model. The only 40th Anniversary models I would be interested in are the ones with the Black Widow power plant. Other than that get me a 95 with the Dunn heads.

General desirability goes in decending order:
'93 Anniversary
'95
'90
'94
'93
'92
'91
'93 Anniversary

'93
'92

I really doubt the 40th anniversary model surpasses the 95’s. The 95’s were much more refined in all area’s. I think a last year’s model will have some leverage over an anniversary model. Also how the hell do you put a 90 up there over a 94.If you look at the projected figures on the chart that’s is posted on the ZR-1 net, that gives some indication: http://www.zr1.net/ZR1_prices.html

It won't really matter what year ZR-1 you have in the future because all ZR-1's are essentially the same car. The differences between the years are really miniscule. Buy the nicest low mile car you can afford and don't worry about what years it is.

Re: 1990-1993 vs. 1994-1995 ZR1's (Jeffvette)
Jeffvette, I will have to disagree on the collectability of the 1990 ZR1's. If you compare it to the highly collectible 1967 427-435 vette, you will see similar numbers. 1967 production #'s- 22940 total units/3754 units came with the optional 427-435 engine. If you do some research these '67's are bringing anywhere from high $50,000 to $120,000. 1990 production #'s-23646 total units/3049 units came with the ZR1 option. Information comes from the Idaho Corvette Website. Right now it's a great opportunity to by a car that, in my opinion, will bring similar $$ figures in the future. So, hold on to your Z for 30+ years and you might be surprised. Of course, supply and demand will always be a factor! I am holding onto mine!

Here's my dilemma. I enjoy driving mine way too much to keep it a low mile car :D :D Another dilemma, keeping my girl friend out of the driver's seat. She smiles WAY too much when she's floggin' it.

[QUOTE]I don't think the 90's will every really be that collectable. They made to damn many of them.
I think that is what will make them worth money down the road. If most people think the way you do and mod them then the really low mile original car will be worth some $$$. Put more than a couple hundred miles on a '90 and forget it being worth anything for a long time.
Its like comparing a 65 396 425hp car, they are great cars and the starting point for the big block cars but no matter how nice they are they will never bring the money a 67 435hp or a 67 L89 (Kind of like a Dunn Head Car) car will. 90's ZR-1 are cool but they will never bring the money a 405hp car will.
