It is a direct replacement but the cut out is smaller for the early cars. Fitment, however, is not an issue if that doesn't matter.

What I've read says the cutout is smaller for the later cars, can anyone tell me the difference in the cutouts and when the change took place. I have someone who wants to buy this windshield and I want to make absolutely sure its correct for his 1990 ZR-1.

Thanks

I think what Fully Vetted is saying is that dimensionally, the cutout on your windshield may be a little larger than the original, "from the factory windshield".

You are also correct, the '90 - '92 cars do have the larger cutout. Comparatively, the '93 - '95 cars have the smaller cutout.

However, all 100 % totally correct windshields, from the OEM supplier were from LOF or Libby Owens Ford, which in recent years has now become Pilkington.

Your windshield is a direct replacement for the '90 - '92 cars, however, it appears it isn't the original supplier (LOF). So as a replacement windshield, the cutout MAY not be the exact dimensions.

Again, HOWEVER, original LOF windshields are virtually unobtainable. The direct replacements that Kurt White got produced aren't any more "correct" than yours, and are also gone, except for maybe one or two that a few ZR-1 Registry board members have.

Even those "replacements" will command $$$$.

So, you are selling one of the closest to original type windshields out there....Who knows how many are out there or where they are. As such, as a replacement, your windshield is as close to the real deal as probably is possible and in my opinion, for those that value that enough, is probably worth the price.

Lol...I actually typed exactly opposite of what I was thinking in my head. The later cutouts are indeed smaller on the OEM windshields.

I hear ya. There are times when I am typing and I see that I left out entire words (I thought the word in my head, but it somehow didn't make it to the screen). Other times I will find out I left out words such as "not", which then give my sentence the exact OPPOSITE meaning. ....proof reading....it's a good thing.

That being said, I would bet the cutout on mlm's windshield is dimensionally correct.
