ZR1 spare tire
Hi all,
I'm missing the spare from my 90 ZR-1
any information as to what the spare tire was from the factory?
full size? space saver? rim?
thanks
Gary

You didn't mention if it was a request for an NCRS project or just to get a tire/wheel. The size is on the tire placard on the driver door and if you're intention is NCRS your buy needs to be one that would correspond to the build of the car.
If your interest is just a tire/wheel you need to remember the "newest" would still be 17 years old. I believe the compact spares are date coded just like a conventional tire. A '90 built in '89 would need a tire date coded xx9 (xx = week 9 = year), beginning in '90 the code would be xx0 but followed by a "triangle". The "triangle is the decade of the '90 - '99.
If NCRS what is the production date of your car?

Gary:
There's more to the spare tire story - a front flat tire and wheel can be put in the carrier but the rear is too wide, so you got a bag to put it in and a strap to keep it secure inside the hatch area. With these cars changing hands, most of this stuff gets lost. You should also have a jack in a bag which stores inside the mini-spare.
Cheers,
Glenn

Thanks again for the additional responses.
Not really for NCRS purposes.
she's a Red/Red 90 #868
I'll see if I can find a full size front wheel/tire .
don't think I want a full size rear sitting in the hatch area in a bag...

I would recommend against a full spare and ensure the tires you have are in good shape (not over 5 years old or dry rotted)
Get AAA!!!

I'm pretty sure that the spare I took out of my 1995 is the original.
The tire says T155/70 R17.
(I took it out to replace it with a 18" CTS spare with adapter for my big brakes.)
The original tire says, " Goodyear Convenience Spare" And "DOT PDYY H5WR 244 E0SR".
I think the date code is the 244, so the 24th week of 1994? Even though it still
holds air, I wouldn't rely on a 19 year old tire! I hope this helps.

I also have C6 Z06 front brakes. I liked that they were 6 piston but
still said "Corvette" on them. For now the rears are stock as I don't want
to give up the parking brake and haven't committed to either dual rear calipers,
adapt C6 "shoes", or switch to a line lock.
I had an adapter (not spacer) made to use in the front. Thanks again WVZR-1!
The adapter is not necessary to use with the stock rear.
