Congrats! Beautiful color combo. Glad you bought it and kept me away. Car is a long time registry member. If I remember it has 4.10 gears, Corsa and chip. Let me know if you need anything.
Grady Brown had it then. There was a registry article on it/him I think.

A friend of mine that I've known for almost 20 years was looking at a Yellow C6 and sent me a text message that a ZR-1 was at that dealership. My wife and I were already pretty close to there so we stopped by to check it out. Believe it or not this was the first ever ZR-1 I have seen in person. A month and a half has gone by and I'm driving by the dealership Saturday and Sunday back and forth to a 2 day SCCA event. Sunday night I stopped by and looked at it again. She had been bringing it up to me several times I needed to talk to them about it so yesterday we went back and now it's mine!

Thanks! This car is in amazing condition! I really don't know much about the background, I could tell it had an aftermarket exhaust installed but didn't see any numbers on anything anywhere on it. I've spent some time reading the owner's manual and poking around here and there. Definitely a different animal than my 87! My plan is to keep her as she is right now, don't plan on changing or modding anything, driven only on nice days, but will see some drag strip and autocross as I can and the weather permits.

That is already more than I knew about this car! Please feel free to hit me up with any more information you may have. Grady Brown's name is in the service record portion of the owner's manual. The dealership did give me a set of FSM's that they said came with the car.

The amount of knowledge in this group never ceases to amaze me! Buy a car, and everyone knows everything about it already!
Congrats!

From what I have been able to find out so far it has Corsa Exhaust which sounds awesome, Screamin Demon coils, and Live Wires spark plug wires. Previous owner installed 335's on the back. Everything else appears to be as factory. A few little things that I will take care of as I can, the antenna doesn't extend all the way which doesn't bother me too bad, the antenna stays up all the time on my 87, the recline lever for the seat doesn't feel like it's connected to anything. Easy stuff.
A question I do have though. I've read that it is not a good idea to wash the engine due to the valley area and the starter placement which is no problem as it just needs a wipe down. Is it ok to gently spray the frame rail areas and the front lower portion of the engine below the oil filter? I can imagine it's a real mess to remove the oil filter on this!
I've been fortunate to have nice weather the past couple of days, too bad work gets in the way of great driving time!

Yes just wipe it down & wax on the upper painted part. You can carefully clean from the cam cover down with a cleaner. Let it sit over-night before you change the oil, The filters have a check valve in them but most still drain over-night.
Have you found the if not check it out....

Melting Slicks
Welcome to the BrotherHood Of The Beast.
It's OK to clean the engine compartment, just never never never never never (you get the idea) get the top of the engine wet.
Oil filter removal is a no mess operation, as long as it has the correct filter on it. The correct filter has an internal valve and shouldn't leak when removed.
Simply remove the oil pan drain bolt and let it drain overnight.
Make sure you have a big enough pan as it uses around 9 to 10 quarts of synthetic oil, full oil capacity is advertized as 11 quarts and you'll never get that much out.
Enjoy!!
