I talked to the owner who told me the car hadn't been wrecked. I was to purchase the car today!!! :mad :mad He emailed me the VIN last night after several phone calls and now I see why....

I don't know Ebay's policy but in most states it is illegal to sell a car with a salvage title unless you inform the buyer ahead of time.

This is the same car that was being auctioned about a month ago, and we nic picked the bageebers out of it. The seats are wrong for the year along with a couple of other items. Was it a theft recovery ? any attempts to buy this car should be done in person, these cars are too complicated to buy without an actual inspection.

I met a guy at one of the car shows who claims to know someone who rebuilt a white Callaway in MN. I bet this is the car. I think the aerobody is an add on since the trim is also painted white. I think Callaway left the trim black from the factory. If someone is serious about this car, and know where the car is located, I could drive over there and have a look at it.

As 8388 suggested....the guy claims it was theft recovered. He sent an email stating its never been wrecked. Who knows what to believe. I may call him tomorrow.

Either way if it has some kind of questionable history, its resale value will always be affected....BUT, could be a good deal for someone who really doesn't care about that! :D

I found out the car has been wrecked....but the person, whom I trust, has asked not to be indentified.

On a side note, when I talked the guy he used massive amounts of profanity, which IMO is no way to conduct business. He insists the car is straight and that the wheels and aero were ripped off when the car was stolen. Maybe thats what he was told but I doubt it. I can't see an insurance co salvaging a car of that value back in 96 b/c of some wheels and body work.

Surf....good thing you ran that Carfax!! Salvage title, NAM title AND rebuilt title!?!? Good lord! That is the most I have ever seen on one car! If it wasn't salvaged it would not have been issued a salvage title. Unless he can prove it is an error, I of course would not believe him saying it wasn't wrecked. Usually people get upset when they are caught in a lie. That might explain the profanity, but still, you'd expect someone with a nice car like that to have a little more class I would think. Stay far, far away I think is safe to say here. The auction should not say "clear title" either. :nonod:
