Buying my first ZR-1 this week! What to do?
So I found a 1990 ZR-1 (#102) in Carlisle this weekend, and I am meeting the owner in a few days to make the purchase. It seems to be very clean for a 98k mile car, and after owning a couple other C4s, I've learned what to look for. I'm looking forward to learning about the LT5, and I'm wondering what work should be done to this baby after I get it. Unlike my 95, I'd like to keep this one relatively stock.
According to the owner, the tranny was rebuilt less than 10k miles ago by ZF Doc, and a new clutch was installed at the same time with a Hurst short throw. It has new coil packs, wires, K&N, cut lid, injectors, ac condenser coil, speed sensor, and Rear Tranny/Driveshaft seal.
It seems to pull pretty hard, and has no problems shifting, so so far I am planning to change out O2 sensors and fuel filter. What else should be looked at?

Congratulations on the new (to you) ZR-1.
Spend some time with it before you start buying things for it, though a fuel filter is always a good idea.. Pics would be nice.

Congratz, and welcome to the Brotherhood of the Beast!
First order of business would (was for me) to pick up an Factory Service Manual (FSM) and read it from cover to cover.
Next, it would be a good idea to join the ZR-1 NetRegistry in order to tap the source for parts, tech info, and expertise from the gurus that reside there.
Maybe with the exception of changing lubricants and coolant (using the green antifreeze only), just drive it for a while to become familiar with its personality and quirks before changing stuff.
Enjoy!

Drive it and enjoy it!
I would get it home and drive it a bit before buying a ton of stuff for it.
I have a '90 FSM set for sale in the for sale forum here and on the ZR-1 Net forum if you're interested. There's an additional LT5 supplement that covers all of the years, but really, the regular FSM has all you need for most stuff.
Congrats on the new purchase. Take some pics and post it to the member's rides section in the ZR-1 Net forum.

They look pretty good in person. They are 2 piece Forgelines with corvette center caps. The alternative was 95 ZR-1 wheels. I just don't think they would look that great with the dark red.
Thanks for all the responses and resources. I'm happy to know there is still such good support for the Z. It seems to be a slightly different (obsessive) group than the LT1 crowd

Wow! Just picked it up and I am so impressed by this car! Its slightly terrifying to drive ... Even though my lt1 probably has a little more torque, this thing just screams. You really can't replace the feeling of 7000 rpms and being confident that the engine won't explode! It also came with a ton of extras and original parts too. FSMs, 95 wheels and tires, standard c4 seats, driveshaft, half shafts, coil packs, original wires, shocks... Super cool guy it came from too. Thanks for all the input guys

if you aren't liking the wheels and have the means, I have your wheels
a mold stock, low mile
a mold polished, nice!!
ccw 505 19" (needs new back tires)
please PM me if interested or see the a molds thread for pics
have tires too
car looks super, interesting color combo
98k miles is nothing, double that before you even start to worry
