ZR1 1991 ZR1 with 95 new crate motor?
Hi All
I am just starting the search for a ZR1. This one seems like it would be a great driver, but how hard is the value hit for a replacement GM installed motor?
This one has 76k miles on car, 3k miles on GM dealer installed replacement motor.
I am wanting to drive it and not just store it, but I dont want to overpay for a car like this. Ask has dropped a couple times, can probably get it under 15k.
Not a fan of the ghost flames and not sure about the aftermarket shocks, but looks good otherwise. I have just not found any ZR1 with replacement motors.
Thoughts, advice?

Those are stock shocks with pricey DRM coil overs added to them
If you look carefully, the leaf springs must be missing as the coil overs perform the same function.
If the car performs well with no observable issues in my humble opinion I believe the price is pretty reasonable.
You could get a better car, but not for that price.
I would ask in this thread if a local member could look at it with you.
Move quickly
At that price, it may not last long.
Good luck!!!

Drifting
90 weighed less, plus the 95's 405HP = more speed. See if that engine has the Dunn heads. If so that car is a prime candidate for more mods. will the pin stripes come off? the flames aren't bad though.

How do you determine if they are dunn heads, the owner does not know, just knows it is a 95 crate motor - direct from GM

Actually, when fully ported, the performance potential is more or less equal, Dunn heads or not, due to the fact that the porting dimensions for the LT5s of 500+ hp is more or less equal, and eclipses all 3 versions of the stock heads. (& One could argue that compared to the potential of the fully ported 5.7+ LT5, the 30 hp additional hp in the 93-95 LT5s is MOOT, especially when considering to the 500+ HP of modded LT5s, AND the additional weight of the late model ZR-1s have compared to the lighter early ZR-1s.)

Some were because of improper coolant eating away head gaskets.
Some were secondary butterfly blade set screws coming loose and dropping though the intake valves and into the cylinder.
And a couple of cam timing chain failures.
Take your pick.

If it is to be a driver..then new 3k mileage crate motor IMHO is a huge bonus on a 76k mileage car......price could be looked at as $10k since the motor is probably worth $5k.......I'd jump on it.
