Question for Men with lower extremity concerns / issues.
Being the ZR1 was not offered in Automatic Transmission - Was this a deal breaker for you?
Thx.

Now getting into the car is a little rough, but getting out......
First, I make sure no one is watching
Second, avoid the steering wheel and grab the a pillar, unless you want a pita repair task
Third push left arm onto back of door opening, and push yourself up and out with your arm.
After that....
The clutch?
What clutch?
I would rig up a broom handle for the ckutch if I had to, before ever getting rid of this car.

The clutch on a ZR1 including the Ram dual disc set up is a very easy pedal. With that , some of the bigger guys have a little trouble getting in and out esp. if the exit and entry aren't done properly.

Franks right and Marty has the exit procedure swing out the legs and leave the steering wheel alone.

Heck, if he could climb into and out of the X-1, that would be perfect training for entry and exit of the C-4!
he's a damn fine real life hero!

Ok...To get in. Open door , turn yourself to the left so your butt is in the car. From a standing position sit down on the seat , still looking away from the car. Then put yout right leg in while twisting your torso slightly to the right. Still twisting your torso pull your left leg up and into the car.
Out is just reverse. Left leg out first while slightly twisting your torso. Then bring your right leg out and flat on the floor. Then from the sitting position stand straight up.
I hope it was explained right. Engrish is my first language.

And as matter of factly as possible, I said the clutch should prove to be a non issue.
It requires such little effort compared to by old big blocks, that even in stop and go parades and such, it fails to cause any problem.
I find it far far simpler to engage and disengage it than any other car that I have ever owned. It requires very little force, and the range of movement is easily tolerable.
Another response mentioned one high dollar automatic conversions have been done, if you are physically unable to se your left leg.
My points about ingress and egress suggest if your legs are good enough to accomplish that, then the clutch will not be a problem, absent some significant issue with ankle hip or knee.
I have met many owners over the last twenty plus years of ZR.1 ownership, and difficulty operating the clutch has never been a topic that has come up.
If you have a more unique or specific issue, we can help further, but if you can walk and get into the car, you should be fine with the clutch.
Now if you are 6'9" and weigh 450, I retract my statement.
Hope this helps!

clutch is no problem as other have said.
you want a clutch effort problem, I also have a 1971 LS-6 with the M-22 and 4:11 read end.
it is the only clutch car I have ever had that at stop lights I need to pull it out of gear and get my leg off the clutch! it is bad!
also only gets 7 MPG!
