Not to bad looking at the overall condition. Looks like it needs a good cleanup, Says make offer.

Who would put a dealer sticker on a ZR-1

That orange peel on the rear bumper seems far worse than the rest of the car. That has me a little nervous.
Was OP a big problem on the early ZR1 bumpers compared to the C4 in general?
Or was this definitely a repaint (possibly collision repair)

Look at the next to last picture, the one with the dealer license frame.
I see at least 8-10 indications of re-paint, plus, what was done to the gas tank?
I am also puzzled at the rust on the screws of the trim plate for the lumbar buttons.
Could be a deal......................
maybe?.........................
Good luck!

Also see that the original license plate frame is missing which might be another indication of rear damage. Console area looks kinda dirty, especially suspension adjust **** area. And missing the cover to the chip box. Overall looks clean in the pics but wonder what it looked like before the cleaning.

Yeah. I'm kind of weighing my options right now.
Getting the jitters before an engine build for my 89.
Originally I wanted to get a Dart 400 shortblock kit with forged mahle internals, and do that in April to my TPI car. (has edelbrock runners, and lower intake on it already, headers, x pipe dual exhaust)
Then I wound up with a free 454 coming into my possession that needs a rebuild and I wanted to do a BBC C3 project at some point.
Then I realized I've got enough sitting in my checking account that I could start seriously hunting for ZR-1s...which I've always loved.

I'm kinda up in the air on what to do now. Especially seeing this car. But those signs of possible collision repair kinda makes me leery of the car. It's not like it was a really good repair either from what I can see in the pics. I haven't even looked at them on my high res monitor. Just my webbrowsing lower res second screen and there's a ton of tell tales there.

IDK ... can you look at this Z in person? If you're looking for an NCRS Vette, this isn't it. But, given the price and the miles, it could be a very nice driver.

It'd be a little bit of a drive but I could get out there.
The early cars weren't as stout as the later ones though right?

I don't know what you mean by stout but my 1990 has no issues. Jay

I thought there was a power difference in the earlier cars and the later ones? 375 vs 405?
Odd the stock 1/4 times aren't really different from the early to later ones.

Were the early ones just under rated? Or were they significantly lighter?

That car looks as if it has not been well cared for in many respects.

Much nicer ZRs out there.

Default good or bad buy

that bumper looks like crap. crap quality paint and harsh treatment is what I can see in pics. I would need a lower price to overcome the crap treatment this car has received. It depends how the rest of it is.

some idiot put a dealer sticker on that bumper. typical car hustler salesman. Unless you can carefully inspect it and get a ridiculous low price I would not buy this car. This car is not a good condition stock car and it doesnt have a quality mods so I dont see where the deal is. I think 12k would be about right if the rest of it is like the rear bumper. these are the types of cars that would slowly eat up your wallet with injector replacement, vacuum issues, idiot lights coming on, radio not working, leaks because of bad weather stripping and who knows what else. this car scares me.

I was thinking 10k for it. Maybe even 9, based on everything the pics showed off.
It looks like it's in worse shape than my 89 was when I got it. And my 89 was a real PITA the first two years of ownership...still is too

It doesn't look that weathered. I'm sure the top was left off and the interior took a little more heat than cleaner examples, but the car is probably ok (it would have to be looked at closely to be sure). 50/50 chance it needs all the typical upkeep like injectors and clutch hydraulic replacements...or maybe it has a stack of receipts to prove it's on the up-and-up.

These things part out for $9k so you will not get that kind of giveaway deal unless you have to drag the car home on a flatbed not running.

These cars have always had a higher cover charge than the regular coupes-sort of like buying a house- you never buy one you can afford, but rather the one you want.
