Default Trade 2008 C6 Vert for 1992 ZR1?

I found a 1992 Red/Red ZR1 and have been thinking about trading because I think the ZR1 would be more of a collector car and would retain it's value better. I cannot find what a fair price would be for the ZR1 but they are asking $19950 for it. It has 40000 miles on it and looks new. My 2008 is crystal red metallic 3LT with factory NPP exhaust and the Z51 option and factory chrome wheels. It is flawless with only 18000 miles. I know they would owe me money but what do you think?

Depending on condition, price of 20k seems about right to me.

Collector car yes in my oppinion as goes for any year ZR-1 in original condition.

Remember two different animals. There will be night and day difference in ride and comfort between the two cars.

Have you ever been in a C4 before?

What's your vert worth $33-$34k maybe a little more if the insurance company was totally it out to full book? If they are asking somewhat high value then I would price your '08 the same way.

I have a 2008 base coupe and I could sell it in a week, but I couldn't get too much action trying to sell my 91 for $17k-ish with the same mileage. (taking the exhaust off- maybe I'll lower the price and try again)... but yeah, the '08 is more marketable and the C4 ZR-1's have still dropped in value every year that I've had mine.

Perhaps you owned an 87 but you need to drive the ZR. Chalk and cheese.

I did about the same thing for about the same reason a couple of months ago. Traded my 04 coupe with 115k miles for a 90 ZR-1 with 50k miles.

Traded this:

For this:

Forgot to add this little guy.

My 04 was a very nice car and was easier to get in and out of and had more foot room but the ZR-1 is a hell of a car. Plus prices on c5's are still going down while ZR-1 prices seem to be holding steady.

They have made so many of the newer generations and that will contiue to hurt the prices.

Waiting on the ZR1 to come down a bit more.

You have pretty nice ZRs available in the 15-19k range. Lower w some elbow grease. How much lower do you want or expect them to go? These cars are basically at "parting out" prices.

It finally got good enough weather here to drive the ZR1. I really like it. They let me take it home tonight and it drove great. I could smell a little antifreeze when I got home but after letting it sit for a couple of hours I checked the floor and not a drop. I had them put it on the lift and the underside looks just as new as the top. It has the grey five spoke wheels and 49th street rocker panels which I really like. I think it has been sitting for quite a while because the date on the radio was 2010. The car is in really really good shape all over. The power seats work fine but the power bolster on the driver seat does not do anything. I have not found anything else that does not work.

^^^ The antifreeze smell is common on C4's once warmed up all the way- usually venting odor out of the coolant overflow. Additionally, unless the chip has been modified, the C4's always run warmer than they should from the factory because the fans are programmed to not turn on until 228 deg F. Turning on the a/c forces the fans on earlier btw.

Well you are not terribly far from the FBI crowd here in Chicagoland.
Paul Workman is south of Joliet and pushrodV-8 is in southside.

Glad all worked out for you.

The items with the seats you mention are easily repaired. Just do a search and have fun while doing the repair task, very common C4 problems and easily corrected.

Welcome to the Elite group and have fun.
