Default 1992 zr1

I will be selling my zr1 next month. Will be having it fully detailed later this month by Dave in Huntington Beach. All original except tires. 85,000 miles, black leather, glass top, red metallic. What should I be asking for it?

There was a white 92 with the same mileage traded in at Weseloh for $13k. last I saw it was listed for a little more at a used car place in O'side. It was pretty clean and well kept despite the mileage. I don't see why you couldn't ask $16k or so to start if it runs right.

Do you have any photographs of the car you could post here?

Although reasonable and priced to sell at that level, because it is so, it actually says "might be a little threadbare" to the uninitiated. JMO. I'd post it at $20K and work from there.

I don't know what exactly a 92 is going to bring but my original statements are based on recent local trade-in value on a similar car as well as the fact that there IS NO MONEY IN SAN DIEGO so one should advertise nationally if you want to get more competitive offers.

Depends......on items like these (listed below).....and detail the engine as well meaning NO oil/coolant leaks
A little 0000 Steel wool will do wonders lightly used on the engine

If like this ZR1 (shown below).....and you have time to sell.....and you list on these Forums......and locally show it.......20K is a good price to start........And with CA gas prices jumping up 45 cents last week......definitely mention gas mileage which approaches 28 mpg on the highway in sixth.

Minimal windshield delamination. Clean and clear. One minor window stone chip repaired.
Comes with one Clear Top that is perfect condition as is the Rear Lift glass.
No leaks coolant, oil, trans.
Appears antifreeze is the green antifreeze.
No body imperfections.
CD radio casette work great.
ALL Bose speakers worked with good sound.
Headlights swivel in and out of position perfectly.
Secondaries function perfectly with canister arms moving smoothly.
Vacuum system perfect with absolutely NO leakage.
Vacuum Pump comes on and then stays off for ever
Oil pressure about 50-60 lbs at hot idle.
Idles smoothly at 700-800 rpm reaching stabilized engine temperature of 188 deg F and holding (60 deg ambient).
Clean unmodified stock engine with NO fresh oil leaks seen.
The engine has some old dust/oil accumulation on front cover.
A good degreaser followed by pressure wash would clean that Front Cover/Water Pump up.
Climate Control functions perfectly while viewing engine digital temps.
Shifts easy in all gears moving forward and in reverse but did not take it for drive (Ben already did that).
Passed CA smog.
Original air induction and intake manifold including CATS in place.
Mileage is correct 44,500 more or less.
Climate Control Fan works at all speeds.
No Check Engine Lights although Ride Control came on and off once momentarily (that is NOT an issue).
AC blows cold.

ZR1 is lowered about one inch.
Tire wear is even on all four tires with good tread remaining.

Out of four ZR1s I have bought, this one has the least issues (none) of any of them.
This ZR1 is black/black.
Interior has minimal to no wear.

I would describe this ZR1 as 9.5 out of 10.
I am surprised some CA Boy/gal did not just jump in and drive it home
If it were Bright Red with Saddle interior....I Would Have

Sports Car Market's price guide (in part based on auction results) shows 92s ranging between $20,500 and $30,500 all in. They say assumes a good condition #2 car, better than your average driver but not a national show-level condition. Your miles would probably suggest a starting point nearer the $20k mark.--Bob

That's a nice looking black 91 there. I hope to see it in person on Wednesday.

Yep...........you will definitely have fun......

hdpete98 did not show a photo of his ZR1 so I showed him a photo of yours

And if he had a list like yours in detail I am sure he could sell his ZR1 about as fast as you bought yours

You have to get some Simple Green and clean off my finger prints from your Plenum

That was a lot of fun for sure working with Mike

You changed IDs?????.....Do I know you......

Great ID......
What does ftw stand for?....oh wait...I can think of a few things without you saying

Now you have to change your Biography also

Now we have to Help Pete Oakley sell his 92' but I have to ask.....why is everyone selling these nice Zs from CA? One of the best places to drive/work on ZR1s year around

The only thing I can think of is CA SMOG.....Not that a ZR1 cannot be SMOG Certified in CA but that you cannot Modify the ZR1 in CA as they check exhaust Mods for example. So most ZR1s you buy from CA will be Stock.......and Not driven on Salty roadways (Salt to melt snow and ice)

That is the reality of it. The very second post in I told of one I saw in January traded in locally for 13k and in good shape at 80k miles and re-listed for $16k. The OP lives in the same county.

People want C6's and C7's. That seems to be the long and short of it imo.

You are talking I assume about Zs in CA......and in CA the SMOG Inspection issues are extremely prohibitive in terms of testing (passing the test) and in terms of visible Exhaust Modifications. That has to have an impact I think.

This is an interesting phenomenon with used car pricing lately. With very few exception prices are low everywhere, I think that is in part due to the fact that most people are afraid of older cars and with the ease of 84 month financing most folks would rather pay for a new or nearly car. With C4 Zr-1s most people are not aware of them unless you are a car person or a Vette fan. So they see these as just another C4. I see it as my good luck as I never buy a car to be an investment, I buy them to enjoy them. On that basis I think the C4 Zr-1 maybe the best deal around.

Absolutely agree with the "best deal around" I'm blessed to have both a '91 ZR-1 that I bought from HammerZR-1 and a JSB 2010 ZR1 that I bought local here in Houston. Both are phenomenal machines.
