90' ZR1 left front fender bottom bolt remove
1990 ZR1 battery change needed. Can't get the fender off!
I'm stumped, hopefully there is someone on this forum that can help. I can see that "slot" at the bottom of the left front fender that appears to be where you insert a small wrench to release the bottom fender attach point.
My problem is what size wrench is required and how do I get at the attachment bolt.
Thnx in advance

Burning Brakes
Remove the three top torx screws at the gill/fender joint and the 10 mm screw at the rear top of the gill panel. The panel flexes enough so you can get the battery out without removing any other parts or bolts.

You don't need to remove the lower bolt, you just need to loosen it and the lower fender is slotted to just slide out. When you're removing the upper bolt watch for shims. I don't know about the flexing thing. Maybe but it's certainly not that much of an additional effort to "just do it".

I was at a Corvette wrecking yard years ago and they had a set of fender panels on the wall the left side was twice as much as the right side. When I asked the guy behind the counter he told me it was because people break the left panel getting the battery out. The bolt is a 10MM. It take maybe 5 minutes to get the panel off. I've done it so many times I don't have to see the bolt head to get it loose.

Why even risk it just remove it. Be sure you watch the rub strip tab that sticks out on the trailing edge leave a gap when re installing don't get it to close to the door or it will make contact when the door is opened.

Get a cheap 10mm open end wrench. Grind it so it is thin, put some masking tape on it so the metal will not scratch the paint. The lower bolt is between the lower gill panel and the rocker panel. A couple partial turns with the wrench and it should slide out.
Make sure you remove all the rest of the connectors mentioned above first.
