2022 C4 of the Year Finalist - Modified

Default A question about my Transmission.

Ive noticed recently that with the clutch fully in at a stop if Im shifting through the gears I can hear a very faint thud as each gear engages. The take-up in the pedal before the car moves is normal, almost fully extended out.I replaced the slave cylinder in the past but the master is original. Is what Im describing normal and Ive never noticed it or is it time to replace the master cylinder as well? Thanks.

from what bill b shared with me your clutch should start engaging about 1/2 way up . I would call him and ask about your problem 602 319 6575

Have you checked the master fluid lately. Safe bet if it's proper level, it's black. I would replace it to proper level with fresh fluid as a start. Pump clutch pedal a few dozen times...deliberately. Repeat.

Could be bigger but start simple in my book.

Good point Ted. Changing out the clutch hydraulic fluid is a point that is often neglected with our cars. Changing the fluid often is easily done and saves the transmission syncro's.
