C4 Zr1 over C6 Z06?
Its strange I know, I just sold my C5 Z06 and I was looking to get a C6 Z06. However I think i would rather save some more coin and pick a C7 in a few years. But some of you might understand I have to have a Corvette. So I've stumbled on a C4 Zr1 with a few miles at a great price would I be crazy to pick it up? FYI with the sale of my Z06 I was able to pay off my wifes car go on vacation and buy a 7000 home A/C system so selling it was good.

It`s not crazy. The C4 ZR1 is a great car and a unique car. I understand wanting to have a Corvette. I drive mine almost everyday because I want to.

I think you'd be better off with the ZR-1. They are going to be on the upswing in prices soon, if some haven't already. The C6Z is still going down, especially with the C7Z here.
So if you needed to sell in a couple years, you could probably get your money back, if not put some coin in your pocket with the C4Z, but with the C6Z, not so much.

Doesn't sound crazy at all. As I just posted in a related thread above, I have owned C4 ZR-1s for about 20 years and my 95 with Marc's 510 package is a great car. While it is for sale with the thought of a new C7, I am delighted to get in it every day and enjoy the ride. If I don't sell it I will simply continue to enjoy it and all the folks who have them. -Bob

First of all, the ZR-1 will be less expensive to buy. Second, with a few bucks and some DIY, you can make the same power as a stock Z06 with same or better reliability. Third, you owe it to yourself to own the only Corvette ever built w a 32V DOHC motor. It'll sound every bit of a big block and wind out further than the 427. If you want a 427, you can build an LT-5 that way and then look out.
