Wow, my Login still works! Been away for a while...
Howdy all. I am pleasantly surprised that my Login still works, AND that I remembered what it and the password is! :-D
I had an 01 C5 from 2003 until 2010 when I sold it to buy a sedan. I needed extra seats for the new little one (now two of them). :-)
Growing up in the 80's, the C4 still seems to speak to me and I've never owned one. So, I'm considering a 94-95 ZR-1 or a 96 Grand Sport. I love Admiral Blue, but there really are not that many out there. But if I keep that as a requirement, which would you choose and why?
Cheers

Welcome back Scott! I too had a Mag Red C5 that I sold in order to purchase the Admiral Blue ZR-1 of my dreams! There are quite a few "bargains" out there on some really nice Z's! Check out the ZR-1 Registry site and look at their classifieds.

While both are great cars, No other Corvette can match the open the hood factor of the ZR-1.

If you must have blue your limited on the number of cars.
I really want a blue one but they don't come up often and I can't bring myself to repaint my black car blue.

I see your point, but either way I'd go with the ZR-1. If your sitting in your garage with your favorite beverage, would you rather gaze upon a special car....or a special paint job? Besides that, Gran Sports have peaked, and will soon be just another special/collector/anniversary edition car. (remember the 78 Pace Car....it was the Gran Sport of its day)

Get the Zr-1. With the Hood up it is special eye candy. Nothing is better than standing around the garage gazing at an LT5.
I love my Ls7-Z06. Its very quick/fast. But the C4Zr-1 is where its at.

Glad to help with a late production '95 ZR-1. It is a low mileage 95 built in the last 3 weeks of production, bought stock in 2012 with 21k miles and now has 32k miles and a few performance upgrades including Marc Haibeck's 350/510 HP package. I have retained all parts removed from the car due to upgrades. The link to the listing on this forum is in my signature below and here also is a link to the for sale thread in the ZR1 Net registry forum: http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24540. Let me know if it might be of interest to you. --Bob

ZR1Bob, your car is very nice as well. I'll keep it in mind.
I do plan to drive the car a lot during the summer, so I wonder if I should look for one that is medium mileage and lower price so I don't feel guilty putting miles on it...
Thanks everyone for your input.

Please note that I certainly don't feel guilty about putting miles on mine . I bought with 21,000 miles in 2012 and now have 32,500 on it. I searched a long time for the car and paid up for it initially because it was exactly what I wanted: a low(er) mileage, very late production 1995. I have driven it to Bowling Green for Gatherings three times (about 450 miles each way) and in nice weather I use it as a daily driver around town. I had 74,000 on my 93 when I sold it; it now has 140,000. Very reliable, durable cars. Unless you are seeking extremely low miles--like 2,000 or so--and plan to keep them low, reasonable miles doesn't hurt the value. Frankly I like some miles because I know the car was used and (normally) any issues attended to. At least in my case, as the car is regularly serviced by Marc Haibeck. And the extra 100 HP is also a lot of fun and doesn't hurt drivability. --Bob
