Why was it an automatic? All that power and a slushbox? Didnt these make around 800 HP?

There were 4 of them, I saw SW's yellow one way back in the day. The thing I wonder about there cars is if they were ever fully sorted out? When you only build 4 of something you don't have time to work out bugs and "evolve". I wonder if these LPE TT cars are like a old Harley, drive it for a hr and work on it for 10 hrs....

I'm going to guess that the automatic was an effort to make the car manageable. 850 ponies under the right foot with a stick makes for tricky take offs and no squishing the throttle hard until third gear.
An auto however, put it in D for drive and hang on tight.

Well if you miss a shift point and its not setup correctly wham there goes the engine. With all that power an auto is the WTG IMHO

I agree unless you are good with a wrench it might be a bear to find somebody to work on it unless you live in Marc or Corey's neck of the woods. However it would be a blast to drive. Wrap and Callaway Aerobody around it or a LPE Aerobody and SCWEET

I think this was Paul Denhart's TTZR-1. He put the auto in it for drag racing.
I'm a little foggy on this, but I thought only Will Barrett's LPE TTZR-1 was a 385, all the other LPE TTZR-1's being 368.

paul kinda struggled with his car and started to follow norm's lead

over 800 hp at the tire is a bit of a handful

I went through the same evolution on my zo6 and went to an auto to get times down from 10.5 to 9.8 and traction is still a huge challenge

norm got his car to run 9.43 at 143 or so which is moving it and very hard to duplicate.

that was with JL driving.

I need to pry one of these things loose one day but after what the car sold for I'm not going all in at this price they are getting a bit too proud of it.

From conversations with SW and Paul at SW's place...the cars were pretty tame and needed nothing done except regular LT5/Corvette maintenance. SW pounded on his...A LOT, and as far as I know it never have issues with the motor.

The outer stub axles and rear ends COULD be an entirely different ball of wax though over time. Putting stickies on the back and hooking up solidly would certainly stress the rear end components after time with 850 HP on tap.

Paul had the auto installed because he wasn't so fast shifting with a manual. SW can snap them off like lightening...but Paul, while good for street/road course driving just didn't have it for 1/4 mile blasts.

Those cars sounded SO stock tooling around, but once you got it into boost it instantly transformed into a snarling beast. I can't imagine what it would feel like with the NOS system hooked up...

Hope it goes to a good home...

Buy it up Sam! If my C5 didn't make the exact same power with active handing and a real traction control system, I'd consider it. That motor alone is worth the price of admission.

I would love to own this car, but I was wondering something. I understand and like the automatic transmission, but in the pictures, it appears they left the clutch pedal there. Was this to make it easier to switch back to a manual transmission?
