Default Pilot Bearing Depth In Crank?

This parameter has been difficult to tack down. My bronze bushing spun in the crank and fell out when I removed transmission so I don't know how deep it was pressed into the bore. Anyone know this measurement? Press in until it bottoms in crank bore?

Thanks!

When you install the pilot bearing make sure you use the correct installing tool because if you try to use a flat-nosed drift pin and "miss" you can drive the welch plug behind the pilot bearing into the crankshaft oil passage.

Often, when that happens, the installer is unaware until the engine is started, there is no oil pressure and bad things happen.

Thanks for the heads up. I no longer beat pilot bearings into place. I use a a damper puller bolted into the crank and push the bearing in.
