When to change oil in crate motor?
I am about ready to start up my LT5 crate motor, how long should I run it before I change oil? the oil in it has a yellow color, very different from a regular oil like Mobil 1 wich makes me think it's a brake in oil.
Thanks

Never heard of that be curious to hear more
Could be simply contaminated from yrs of condensation had it happen on a brand new differential (sat for 10 yrs inside)
Take it with a grain of salt though just a W.A.G.

Caveat: I don't have a clue about what oil may have been installed in crate engines nor do I know what long term storage may do do alter its condition.
However: Rather than gamble with an expensive, new crate engine, I would drain it &, replace with non-synthetic, high quality motor oil for break-in.
Here's a good read for you to consider.
