Which wheel design?
Hello gang
After Vredestein stopped to produce the dimension 315/35/17 I ask myself who will be the next.
I noticed some manufacturers offer this size only with the speed index "W" (270 km/h resp. 168 mph = slow).
The solution is to go with 18 Inch. Bigger than 18 or 19 Inch does somehow not match with the side car body design.
Shelby Serie 1 rims are hard to find and expensive. C5/6/7 rims are not that exciting.
Which wheel design would you choose for the ZR-1? All ideas and especially pics are wellcome.

I had custom wheels made in 17". They etched ZR-1 into the center caps. Just search online for sites and get quotes. I went with Boze Alloys. They had to add the step lip to the rim to make it work in 17". I didn't want to go bigger and get thinner tires, and deal with the speedo.

After that Id look at some of the CCW 5 spoke variants.

Didn't the C6Z wheels require spacers, or adaptors (not for lug pattern but to space them out)? I'm not sure I would to do that with the autobahn speeds SAM is looking for.
Shelby Series 1 and Fikse FM5 always looked great on C4s.

Fikse at one time was German TUV approved, I'm not sure if that will come into play for you.

It's not that I don't like the stock 17" rims. But as told in the beginning, the point is some manufacturers stopped to produce the rear 315 tire with speend index "Y" (300 km/h resp 186 miles). A technical inspector can refuse the permission to move the car on the roads when the tires are not made for the car's top speed.
5-spoke rims are easy to clean and behind can good looking brakes be installed like the top Mov'it. Adjusted and produced exclusively for the C4 ZR-1 brake System.
I go with 6-Piston 342x34 mm in the front and 4-piston 322x28 mm at the rear. It feels like throwing a anchor when pushing down the brake pedal.

I went with HREs. Something I've always wanted so that's what I got. 18-10 front and 19-11.5 in the rear. I would have gone with an 18 inch rear but tire sizes were limited.

Nice look...Are the tires also from the Z06?

Originally, I had bought Z06 wheels w GY RFs. However, I would not use them again. I recently replaced my Nitto Invos w Michelin SSports 285/345s. I liked my Nittos quite a bit but the car drives so much smoother w the Michelin. The Mich also bite better under full throttle but I have also made some rear suspension changes w DRM brackets so I can't say it's all tire.

At one point I had a chance to buy an original set of BBS RS wheels in ZR-1 sizes but didn't like the way the small center met the drop center of the rim. These. BSS RS wheels are the best wheel for these cars. It's too bad BBS doesn't make these original style RS wheels anymore, everybody else has copied the design over the years. They are producing one size for a BMW but it's a 19-9.0 and its $1500 a wheel.

I think the 17"-315's are available from several manufacturers, unless you really want to go to a bigger wheel for other reasons.
I recently bought Toyo R888's in the 315X35 size, and I like them a lot. They are listed as "race tires", soft and not long wearing, also not good in standing water.
So, I wouldn't use them for a daily driver, but terrific grip on dry roads.
Most ZR-1's don't get driven in rain often, or get enough mileage put on them to worry about "using up" a soft tire before the tires get 3-4 years old. I've used a number of tires on my ZR-1 that were too old long before the tread was used up.
