#TBT: Jalopnik Considered a C4 Corvette ZR-1 Necessary for Their "Fantasy Garage"
There once was a time way back in Jalopnik history where they had a "Fantasy Garage." But it wasn't really a place where American cars seemed welcome.

This, perpetuated is irritating.
"If Porsche can stick to a design even though it’s “wrong,” Corvette can do the same."
There is nothing "wronger" about a composite leaf spring than there is wrong w/any other type or material of spring. Torsion bar, coil (a wound torsion bar), they all do the same thing.
This stuff too...
"Chevy devised a Lotus-inspired steel-backbone for the transmission/differential, then bolted the unit and the engine directly to a steel unibody then attached the fiberglass body to the structure"

The fantasy garage is what I am currently driving. That said, I'd take that ZR-1 for a spin.
Agree with Tom about the leaf spring and other suspension ideas.
Hey, I had a '64 Dodge Coronet 440 with torsion bars, and it was a nice ride -- nothing wrong with those. Wish I still had that old car.

Oh, Jalopnik. The land where 1982 Toyota Carollas are somehow cool, the dominant GTLM C7R is ignored because they can't cope with fact that "push rods matter", and people apparently think that just because they like BMWs...well, you know the rest.

Best summation of Jalopnik ever!
It's funny too, how every poster/commenter acts like the supreme king of all knowledge (on whatever the topic), yet they're frequently completely off base with what they're saying.
