Default Alternators

Is there a market for LT5 alternators? If so, there's a bunch in central Indiana. Tommy Morrison routinely replaced alternators after each race or test session. Except for one brand-new, these are those take-offs.
Model numbers are primarily 10479904, 1101597, 1101849.

I would say there is because I just replaced mine. Was a PIA to find the right one with the right pulley. First unit's housing was a tad to big to fit in the bracket. This was the unit GM said use. We could have ground it down some but decided to try another model. It fit prefect but the pulley was not right. So we compromised and put the old pulley on the new unit. Was time consuming to go through this.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one , have it rebuilt to a higher output spec. These C4 ZR1's like amperage.

Is it pissible to take the LT-1 alternator guts and put into an LT-5 housing?

Production ID for each is 1101597 - '91 production, 1101849 - '90 and 10479904 would be '92 thru end of production

Is it correct that the 90/91 alternators were 120 amp? Later years were 124? Also, that LT5 units won't work on L98 or LTl/4 engines?

I can't speak to the 120Amp units but the replacements were 124amp for all years.
I am accumulating cores for rebuild. Whatever is not spoken for, I would be interested in buying the rest. You can PM me with the info and cost for the remaining lot.

'90 is 120A, '91 and later 124A These LT5 units need to be used on LT5 applications. The pulley is LT5 specific - there are years where the slip-ring end frame are the same but there are no years where the drive end and the slip-ring end both fit the LT1 so there's little use attempting.

Thanks greatly, Charlestown. All this started when I answered a query about a '91 Lt1 application. I had enough different part numbers that I thought I might have one to fit. Looks like everything I've got is LT5.
