It sold for just under 21k and was a bargain at that price (IMO). It sold in under 2 weeks to the first person that came out to see it. Obviously after what I originally paid for it and the updates and repairs I lost a few bucks. To me it was a small price to pay for such a great car that I owned for 7+ years.

As others have said there are many bargains out there, you just need to sort thru the duds to find a good one.

On another note, I can honestly say I am sorry I sold it (even though the wife was happy to see it gone). Without a doubt I really enjoyed it, a head turner in every respect and it always drew a crowd at a car show. There's nothing like the LT5 at full song and I doubt I will ever have anything like it again... Sad
Im reading all the replies. thnx guys. i really want an lt5. this thread is making that even more clear!

ive become an l98 specialist and there was advice about skipping the Lt1/4. think ill do just that. een though ilike the idea of an lt4, where i live the lt4 and 5 are same same price but different.

Is the guy asking about a Z06 here or is he asking about a ZR-1? Not to be rude here but one thing that really pisses me off is when somebody asks about value in a specific car som body always comes back with a WELL,FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY comment. And yes,the car was worth every bit of the $65,000 sticker price. Anybody looking to buy a really nice low mileage Z today is in the perfect spot. I haven't read all the comments here but for $20,000 somebody could get a perfect car. There's a 93 floating around with low miles at a really nice price, been out there for awhile now so might be bad for a good price.

Definately a great time to buy....Prices are down all over, not just ZR-1s, all over...Even C-7 stingrays are dipping into the 40s for a clean used one...

I agree and disagree at the same time, especially watching the BJ Auction. People are spending some crazy $$$$ for vehicles. So far two ZR-1's went across the block at reasonable prices, even though there was quite a difference in the selling price between the two.
I will repeat once again, if you (meaning you in general) are looking for the performance buy of the decade, not only is the C4 ZR-1 a great buy, but also the C5 Z06. Between these two models, owning either one would make any potential owner more than happy....for sure.....
If I didn't own my other Vettes, I would be looking to add another ZR-1 or the C5 Z06....JMO

Great minds think alike. My next Corvette purchase will be a C5 Z06 in black or silver with the red/black interior if I get what I'm wishing for. Given the performance it's hard to believe what some Corvette models sell for. I'm a member over at bring a trailer and it's insane what many lesser performing automobiles from the same time periods will command compared to the ZR-1 and Z06. A lot of cool cars are sold on that site, but on a performance per dollar comparison the ZR-1 and Z06 are at the top of the heap. I guess that's what eventually got me into the ZR-1 too. I dreamed of them since intro, but now its finally affordable to snap one up. The only car that can hang with it for a similar price is the Z06. The Porsches and Ferraris and equal cars from the early 90s are all trading at insane prices.

I hear you there!!!!
Interesting you mentioned "Bring a Trailer" site, as one of my car buddies have been telling me about that site for some time. I just keep forgetting to check it out. He has said there are a lot of good vehicles on there and also some good info on those vehicles. He enjoys just checking out what is for sale, and also mentioned that they (the site) want vehicles that people want to sell, (no crazy reserve price) rather than people who are only testing the market. I have to check it out, sounds like it is informative........
I keep saying owning a C4 ZR-1 is like owning a real piece of automotive history. It is really something special, not only with low production numbers, but in all of the automotive accomplishments the ZR-1 accomplished during that time period......

C5 Z's are great cars no doubt. My dad had an 02 z06 in 04, and I was 9 or 10. It was heads, cam and intake. Loved that car. Never wanted to get out of it. But a C4 Z is definitely more unique.

Will have to ck out that site
Go back and forth on selling my Camino
Dont want to . Should have a long time ago
Having a "perfect car" is only good when its sitting in the garage had more fun when it was in primer.

Ebay and cl just bring trolls sending hate mail it gets old
These "flipper" tv shows bring out some real ignorant idiots that dont know how easy it is to spend 100k building a car.

There will always be the "for that money you could"....heck said it before myself. Depends though

Heard it when I sold mine..."yeah I could get a C5". Sure they could but its not a ZR1
Was fortunate got good money for it but took me over a year.

The Zs dont have a huge audience not many know any/much about them so most do know what they can be picked up for.

either start high and come down/wait or drop it quick til you find a real "what its worth" price. These days its usually not good thats just the way it is.

If I do sell mine I will probably pick up a nice 50k mi 90 as my sold daily driver and keep the truck....the ca smog thing kills me though. This $tate....if it werent for the weather

Anwyay back on topic!

A low mile beautiful 91 ZR-1 sold on BaT for $22.5 last week White over red. It's definitely a buyers market. I probably overpaid a bit for mine, but I will always have one in the garage after getting one. I could see upgrading, but being without is silly. Dollars per smile once you factor in collector car insurance, performance and rarity, these cars are really near the top of the car heap. I think C5 and C6 Z06s are up there too.

I'm actually working on a list of the five best cars around 20k that I want to own and tinker with the rest of my life. My 91 ZR, is numero uno. I'm not sure if my 78 SA makes the grade.

I have found it difficult to convey the value of certain repairs and maintenance to people that have never owned a C4 before. Buyers tend to see these cars like newer ones where 30k mile example should always be worth more than a 60k mi car, but in reality, the mid mileage car could very well be a better buy.
