Not even close. If you went to the auction expecting to take it home for that I guess you would be very disappointed. As stated other than the few 89s owned by GM this car is the only one in as new condition in private hands. A few years ago the white crushed car restored was for sale @ $200,000. There's one narrow body 1988 Convertible that was crushed and it was for sale @ $100,000 in damaged state, this was a few years ago and there's not a lot of info out there on that car.

Yes just buffed out, still blue. The car really changes depending on the light and angle.

David, For my sake I hope so I have spent quite a bit of time around #078 talking to anyone who will listen.

Some new facts:

#078 has LT5 #412, and despite being 4 vins after my #074 it appears to have been assembled a couple weeks before it.

Like #074 it was also built for the GM Service Development Center. It would have been used to develop service training, manuals etc. Gordon K told me that's what they did there when I showed him my build sheet. Once the 89 production was cancelled the 2nd week of April 89, these two where transferred to the PR department under Ralph Kramer. 74 became west coast media car and the rest is history.

On another note, Noland Adams passed away today. He was a real asset to Corvette history, and sadly we lost a lot of knowledge about the early Solid Axle cars..

They gave it a Saturday list and it's the only 1989 with an MSO. (Owner was discussing getting the car titled).

Can't wait too see what it'll bring!

Yes it did, for 99k. I'm not sure why I watch these damn auctions anymore, they NEVER show C4s, and this car is extremely rare and significant. I cannot believe it sold for that little, whoever got it is VERY lucky. If this car is ever for sale again, I will most likely buy it. That was a steal imo.

Yes,this was a disappointment to see it go for that but I don't think the seller lost any money. We will see this car again.

Well I didn't buy either. Bid on the 89, but Roy Sinor started and I knew he wanted it more then me so I stopped. In the end neither of us got it

I thought the Active did better then i thought it would. I bid on it but stopped well before the end.

Good news is, there is still interest in these cars.

88k. I think that car is awesome and has a nice unique look to it but since you can't drive it 88k is pretty strong money

Thanks for the response. I was like 14 when they auctioned it in Barrett Jackson previously. I believe it was 2009, and remember it going for much more than 88k in 09?

I have a black prototype I’m looking to sell. I guess it’s considered a 1990 zr1. Has active management suspension. I got it running. It was a test car so it has some marks on it but overall nice condition.

^That is f'n CRAZY!! I can't believe that thing exists! I remember reading about that car in Motortrend (?) when I was a teen. I was blown away by the technological leap that suspension was compared to anything else I'd heard or read about. I was thrilled it was being tested in a 'Vette.

Interesting upper control arm in that pic. I'd love to see more pics if HDVROD cares to post more.
